Introduction
Wearable systems are mobile electronic devices that can be unobtrusively embedded in the user’s outfit as part of the clothing or an accessory. In particular, unlike conventional mobile systems, they can be operational and accessed without or with very little hindrance to user activity. Wearable technologies in healthcare institution, are defined as noninvasive and autonomous devices that capture, analyze, and aggregate physiological data to improve personal health and well-being. Wearable technology has been used almost exclusively for fitness purposes to date, steered by the increasing demand of consumers to monitor their own health. Wearable technologies are able to model and recognize user activity, state, and the surrounding situation: a property, referred to as context sensitivity. Wearable systems range from micro sensors seamlessly integrated in textiles through consumer electronics embedded in fashionable clothes and computerized watches to belt worn PCs with a head mounted display.
Wearable technologies have ignited a new type of human–computer interaction with the rapid development of information and communication technologies. This technology facilitates mobility and connectivity for users that they can access online information conveniently and communicate with others immediately while moving. Wearable technologies (WT) enable cost-effective and affordable personalized mobile healthcare monitoring and management (PMHMM) at any place and time, which obviates the need for skilled healthcare professionals and advanced healthcare facilities. Therefore, they are ideal for delivering mobile healthcare (mH) to remote, resource-deficient, decentralized and personalized settings. Wearable technology has gained immense popularity recently in lifestyle and healthcare products, such as fitness tracking, rehabilitation, fall detection, and even wound healing (Lin et al. 2018; Majumder and Deen 2019).
