This study looked into the difficulties secondary school teachers in Nigeria are now having teaching computer science. In the Local Government Area under consideration, the study was limited to a few secondary schools. The study’s main topics included assessing the computer literacy of instructors and students, the motivations behind teachers’ computer use, and the advantages and disadvantages of computer education in secondary schools. Emphasis was placed on the use of absolute numbers, frequencies of replies, and percentages for a thorough examination of the data gathered. By comparing the percentage of workers who responded to each statement in the questionnaire that was relevant to any given question being taken into consideration, the research questions were answered. The results of this study demonstrate that there are numerous issues with computer science education in secondary schools in Nigeria. The study’s findings suggest that teaching computer science in secondary schools benefits both teaching and learning in secondary schools in Nigeria. Many secondary schools in Nigeria have not yet incorporated computer science into their teaching and learning methods, despite the importance it may play in education. Therefore, it is important to maintain Computer Studies in secondary schools and to provide the necessary infrastructure so that both teachers and students can fully benefit from Computer Studies’ good effects.
1.1 Background of the study
How quickly the globe has developed since the days of prehistoric man through medieval man and into the present era. The vast world, which the average person perceived as two extremes that were too far apart to be reached, has already been subdued by great minds. Most people agree that education is the cornerstone of any nation’s technological and economic progress. Due to this, the three (3) layers of government are attempting to change the educational system by providing teachers with scholarships, favorable employment terms, increased salary, and timely payment of salaries. Despite this efforts made by the governments, there is still persistent increase in failure rate as always indicated in the annual reports by the national examination bodies such as WAEC, NECO, NATEB and JAMB.
Due to the high failure rate, numerous studies have been conducted that examined the teaching process, teacher characteristics, teacher attitude, and students’ attitudes toward education, as well as how these factors affect students’ academic performance. Although the teaching process appears to shift from a teacher-centered to a student-centered approach, the overall narrative almost stays the same. Hence, for many years now in Nigeria, many people are in doubt of the quality of products of her education from primary, post primary and tertiary institutions. Education discourse on poor academic performance seems to be the issue of the day. Minds that saw the possibility of turning this vast globe too large to be explored into a global village, where the distance between two ends could be reached in split seconds.
There is much that could be said about guys with such outstanding brains as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, men who developed great theories through deft reasoning and had a significant impact on the world. The world would have remained a gigantic globe, whose two ends could never be reached in a matter of seconds, without the contribution of a group of men born in a certain generation, I believe that much more could be said about them. I would take a long breath before mentioning “The computer” as an example of men who, through their fantastic creations, broke down the barriers of space and time.

Our world would not be complete without the computer, and education, despite all its enormous potential for successfully educating the next generation and embedding moral standards and other values into them, would never be complete. Perhaps increasing students’ understanding of and proficiency with computers can enable them to do better in school. The knowledge and skills needed to use technology and computers effectively are known as computer literacy.
A person’s comfort level with utilizing computer programs and other related applications can also be referred to as their level of computer literacy. Computer literacy is becoming more and more common at a remarkable rate. An electrical device known as a computer is capable of accepting, storing, and processing data in accordance with a set of instructions (or a program) to generate results. Computers are always evolving; they get smaller, faster, and more potent. These changes have motivated the modern society to become comfortable with basic computer related skills.
Who was the computer’s inventor? is not a question that has an obvious solution. The actual response is that a computer is a sophisticated piece of machinery made up of many elements, each of which can be considered a separate innovation, and that many innovators have contributed to the history of computers.
Since mechanical and earlier electrical computers performed tasks that had previously been allocated to people, this means that the first computers were actually people.
