INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the Study
Since the dawn of Christian history, the crucial and challenging issue of the Church’s duty to the society it lives in or beside has existed. The church plays a vital role in society in the twenty-first century, because it can fill a need that no other institution can. If someone is in need of a “spiritual fix,” they ought to go visit the church. The church is not an exclusive club for saints, but rather a hospital for sinners. Society begins in the homes of each individual member of the church, and the church’s obligations in it begin there before spreading to the rest of the world. To reach their own homes first and then have an impact on the world around them, every member of the church must live a life worthy of their call (Hogan, 2019).

God calls each believer individually and the church as a community to be an impact. In reality, the Bible describes Christ-followers as salt and light (Matt. 5:13–16), people who, by sharing and demonstrating God’s unfailing love and dedication to his ways, inspire others and offer paths to wholeness and holiness. As the highest measure of real discipleship and the obvious indicator Jesus mentioned when he said, “by this all people will know that you are my disciples,” love is what Jesus claimed would be central to his church and the attraction that draws people to faith in God (John 13:35, ESV).
The Church has a significant impact on communal cohesion as well. Our culture is becoming more and more multicultural and multireligious, which makes this significant. As a community, the church exalts the goodness of God and offers precise guidance on leading a fulfilled and meaningful life. It serves as an unmistakable reminder that it is a restorative force in restoring God’s image in his ultimate creation—humanity. Christians think that in an increasingly secular world, the Church can act as a stabilizing influence for good. People suffering through difficult times, regardless of their background, can get support from the Church.
Since religious leaders continue to have some power in the communities they serve, the Church frequently tries to collaborate with other religious organizations to maintain peace and harmony in the neighborhood. Reconciling all people to Christ is the earthly church’s duty, and it is intimately tied to the evangelical mandate that “people may trust God as their Father, and acknowledge Jesus as Lord” (Day, 2017).

Whether or whether it is formally united, the Christian community of our day is one of the greatest civilizations’ organizations and movements; it is among the oldest human communities and has served as a model for the majority of the world’s current states. It is incomparable to the meek, little company of the preceding centuries, living amid secular cultures that had developed apart from it.
The community of the church offers something deep and potent. The Church’s awareness of its own predicament and its compassion for the depressing empires and imperiled towns of our day are therefore equally responsible for the emotional weight and intensity of the current debate on the Church’s social responsibility (William, 2019).
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Undoubtedly, we are living in unpredictable times where there are many opportunities for offense, diversion, and loneliness. That does not, however, serve humanity in any manner and is not God’s will. As the saying goes, “the best defense is a good offense,” and the church as a community should offer the finest defense against the forces that fight for humanity’s soul. People must have their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs satisfied.
These days, we live in a bizarre environment. We may better understand this in light of (II Timothy 3:1), which states, “but know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.” It is with great caution that I declare these to be dangerous times. Children are growing up in broken homes at an increasing rate, unemployment is rising, and Christians are becoming more indebted than ever before (Shelly, 2019).
Like everyone else, we churchgoers experience the pinch of reality as many of them struggle to make ends meet. Christians are not immune to life’s challenges. These are dangerous and extreme times we live in. Extreme measures are necessary at extreme times. To be able to satisfy the needs in each believer’s life, churches should adopt targeted small groups. Any church, regardless of size, can offer outreach programs and small group ministries that are effective; smaller churches can and ought to have focused small groups.
The community that the church serves can then benefit from this momentum as it extends beyond its boundaries. To the best of its capacity, the church can help those in need by offering services, guidance, and counsel. This study was raised to look into the above challenges and ascertain the responsibility of the church in our modern day society.
1.3 Purpose of the Study
The primary aim of this research is to examine the responsibility of the church in our modern day society. Specifically, the study intends to:
