1.1 Background of the Study
The management team’s ineffective administration style has caused many organizations to fail today; the employees in these organizations are not well organized, controlled, or coordinated; the effects of this attitude are caused by, among other things, an uncooperative attitude among employees, low productivity, high operating costs, and an ineffective leadership style. This could all culminate in the dissolution of the organization.Although staff administration had been around for a while, most human resource managers did not really know what it meant or how to use it to their benefits. Today, organizational managers have just started to recognize the value of human components in achieving goals and objectives.Since employees are the lifeblood of every organization, particularly in the banking industry, efficient staff management undoubtedly has a significant impact on productivity(Oscar & Abor, 2013).
The part of management that deals with all facets of an organization’s human resources is called staff administration. Managing employees at work is known as staff administration. Regardless of the type of organization, its age, size, or structure, the management philosophy of the organization needs to secure human resources in order to spread throughout all facets of corporate and organizational operations. As a result, it became the duty of every individual who oversaw personnel inside the business and serves as a description of the duties performed by human resource experts.
Traditionally, staff administration has been thought of as a staff function. Staffing, like all other management functions, is a flow of operations that lead to the ongoing filling of different jobs at all levels within the company. Work analysis and design, hiring and selection, appraisal, remuneration (wages and salaries), training and development, social services, safety, and labor relations are some of these activities. In particular, staff administration entails assessing organizational needs and the necessity for human resources, seeking out and hiring the finest candidates, and managing various issues pertaining to the welfare of employees(Ward, 2016).
An organization’s productivity is a key factor in determining its flexibility and ultimately its performance. An organization that hires a sufficient number of employees and has well-qualified management may address employee issues and achieve objectives. To elaborate, any organization has goals and requires a certain number of employees to enhance its management. An organization can benefit much from staff administration and human resource management.
The practice of staff administration is also concerned with an organization’s recruitment, retention, motivation, growth, and utilization of its human resources. It is a crucial component of the overall management process (Akubujwe, 1997). As such, the organization’s manager bears final accountability for it. The organizational and occupational structures that are used to carry out the personnel function within an organization’s many agencies vary greatly, as does the function of staff administration and its link to the management process as a whole.
Staffs constitute the largest components in the banking sector. In this wise, the organization’s administration department is responsible for either the success of failure of such organization. Theorganization’s administration department has many functions but the primary ones are recruiting and meeting the general welfare of the staffs. Every company’s expansion is entirely dependent upon the expansion of its workforce. When staff management is not properly implemented in a company.
A firm will not be able to grow his staffs, which will prevent the organization from growing as well. A contented workforce constitutes an organization’s fundamental asset. In order to keep its workforce content, the company needs to ensure that its personnel management procedures are highly successful. Since human resources are considered the most important and practical organizational resources. Every organization needs to attain its resources or human factor. Therefore, administration is the ability of every manager to coordinate both human and materials resources for the accomplishment of organizational goals (Amao, 2006).
