Functional and Non-Functional Requirements for Online Food Ordering System

CHAPTER ONE

 INTRODUCTION

  • Background to the Study

Food is served and consumed specifically at a meal, which can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner on a regular basis. Purchasing food from a restaurant or using an electronic device is the process of placing an order for a meal. Restaurants can enhance their operations and management with the use of meal ordering systems, which are applications or programs. The capacity to place orders for food that a person wants to eat and ensure that the food is delivered to the person once completed is offered by an online meal ordering system. The online meal ordering system is one of the newest services that the majority of fast-food businesses in the West have used; clients place online orders and have their food delivered in this way. One of the newest services that the majority of fast-food businesses in the West are using is the online meal ordering system. This system allows clients to order food online and have it delivered to them. A meal booking system is made to pick up the food that customers request and notify them of the precise time it will be ready for pickup. One piece of software that helps users live easier is the online food ordering system. The online meal ordering system allows users or clients to rapidly get food when they’re not in the mood to prepare or go out to dine. (Vidyagiri, 2020 ). Nowadays, the majority of individuals experience tension from having to go to restaurants and eateries for their food, and occasionally from having to prepare their own food.

Statement of Problem

The system to be designed solves a variety of concerns, including overcrowding. When a large number of customers arrive at the same time to pick up their meal, there is a chance of overcrowding, which contributes to the long wait. The long wait time refers to the time it takes for an individual to be treated to, which includes both the period before and after being attended to. Another source of concern is the long line developed while ordering food. As more individuals arrive, the queue becomes longer, discouraging people from ordering food. It also eliminates the typical method of purchasing food at a restaurant.
